11/03/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers kick off a quick two-game road trip Tuesday, when they face the improved Oklahoma City Thunder at Ford Center.
The Lakers finished a season-opening three-game homestand in positive fashion on Sunday, when Kobe Bryant had a game-high 41 points to go with eight rebounds and five steals as Los Angeles took a 118-110 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
Lamar Odom just missed a triple-double, ending with 11 points, 14 rebounds and eight helpers for the Lakers, who used an 18-0 run in the third quarter to grab the win and rebound from a loss to Dallas on Friday. Andrew Bynum added 21 points in the victory.
"We picked up our intensity tonight, and it started with number 37," Bryant said of Ron Artest, who ended with 12 points and seven rebounds. "His energy changed the pace of the game."
The Thunder, meanwhile, lost for the first time on Sunday, when Portland's Steve Blake had 18 points and Brandon Roy scored 16 in the Blazers' 83-74 victory over Oklahoma City.
Russell Westbrook scored 23 points for the Thunder, who were hurt by an awful shooting night by Kevin Durant. Jeff Green totaled 19 points and 11 rebounds and Durant scored 16, but ended 3-of-21 from the field.
Westbrook had nine of Oklahoma City's 19 turnovers as the Thunder lost for the first time in three games this season.
"We definitely have to move the ball and you have to make shots to make assists," said Thunder guard Kevin Ollie. "The ball movement was a little stagnant. It's something we've been working on and we'll get better."
The Lakers have won nine straight over the Oklahoma City franchise, including all three matchups last season.

Huskers' Lucky hospitalized for undisclosed reason
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.
The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.
MySportsbook.com has the Cornhuskers listed at +2500 to win the BCS National Championship odds.
A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.
A Lincoln Police spokesman said officers responded to a call at Lucky's residence 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The spokesman said he didn't know Lucky's condition at the time he was taken to the hospital.
Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
