03/04/2007 - Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots to lead the Boston Bruins over the Montreal Canadiens, 3-1, at TD BankNorth Garden.
Petr Tenkrat, Brandon Bochenski and Glen Murray scored for the Bruins, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Phil Kessel picked up a pair of assists to post his fourth multi-point game of the season.
Sheldon Souray notched the lone goal for the Canadiens, who have dropped four of their last five. Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves but lost for his third straight start.
Clinging to a one-goal lead late in regulation, Murray provided insurance by ripping his trademark snap shot high to the far side with 4:09 to go to put the B's ahead 3-1. Kessel made the play happen, as he faked a shot from the right circle, drawing two Canadiens defenders towards him, then dished back to Murray waiting alone in the slot.
The Bruins clamped down in the final minutes to protect the lead, allowing Montreal one shot on goal with the extra attacker and skated away with the victory.
By failing to earn at least a point with the loss, Montreal remains one point behind Carolina for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Canadiens slip to three points behind the seventh-seeded New York Islanders, who crushed Washington, 6-2.
Boston peppered the young Halak with 16 shots in the opening period, including six on the power play, but failed to score.
Tenkrat would find the first dent in the young netminder's armor, giving the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 3:29 when his 50-foot slapper ticked off Souray's stick, then caromed off the top of Halak's glove and sailed into the net.
Boston extended the advantage to 2-0 with 1:03 left in the period, as Bochenski cashed in on a 2-on-1 break with a short-side wrister, his first tally in four games.
Facing back-to-back road defeats to division foes, the Habs responded to cut their deficit in half at 3:02 of the third when Souray's left circle blast deflected off a Bruin defenseman's stick and through Thomas.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
