Aaron Ward, P.J. Axelsson and Marco Sturm also lit the lamp for the Bruins, who have won two in a row. Backup goaltender Joey MacDonald made the most of a rare start, making 26 saves in net.

Martin Brodeur had a rare down night, allowing three goals on 29 shots for New Jersey, which has dropped two straight. Michael Rupp had his team's lone goal.

The Bruins struck 12:26 into the contest to assume a 1-0 edge. Bochenski controlled the puck behind the goal line before popping out and feeding a pass to Ward at the point. Ward quickly released a shot that made it through traffic in front before sliding into the cage.

A short-handed marker by Sturm just 19 ticks into the second stanza made it a 2-0 contest. Patrice Bergeron's feed behind the defense sent Sturm out on a breakaway, and the left winger cashed in with a wrister that beat Brodeur stick side.

The Devils cut their deficit in half 6:40 into the third on a rebound putback by Rupp.

A New Jersey turnover in its own end moments later, though, resulted in a Bochenski tally from the slot to make it 3-1.

MacDonald kept the Devils off the board from there, and Axelsson capped the scoring with an empty-net marker in the final minute.

Game Notes

Sturm now has two short-handed goals on the season and 16 for his career...Ward's goal was his first as a Bruin since being acquired from the Rangers at the trade deadline...The teams were a combined 0-for-7 on the power play.
